Janet Merran

Janet Merran received her Master's degree from the University of Minnesota and attended classes at the Loft Literary Center.

As in insider in Top 40 Radio in the 1970's, she experienced its culture and many of its seamier practices first-hand.

Top 40 Honeypot is fictional, but it is based on a real era, industry, and culture. This is her first novel.

Top 40 Honeypot

The year is 1974 and Donnie Dixon is hired as program director of one of the most popular Top 40 radio stations in the country. But he soon finds out that behind the excitement of the music, the contests, and the big money prizes, is a dark world of crime, betrayal, and deceit. Be prepared for a thriller like no other inside the world of Top 40...

Praise

"A glaring truth woven into this fantastic novel"

– Award winning author, Sonja Grace

"What would you be willing to do to make it? How far would you be willing to do to climb to the top? Those are the questions 'Top 40 Honeypot' asks and answers. Set during the Golden Age of Top 40, the book looks at a time and place when radio was king, morals were loose and young women were often offered up as sacrificial lambs for ravenous wolves. The fast-paced page-turner takes a cold, hard and unstinting look at how ambition, greed, cowardice and lust made for a dark witches' brew that belied the sunny surface of the Seventies Hit Parade."

– Christopher Loring Knowles, author of "He Will Live Up in the Sky."

"With all that's going on in the Diddy trial, Ms. Merran's fast-past thriller TOP 40 HONEYPOT is a relevant, timely & insightful read. I don't finish many novels, bet hers held my interest to the end. The 1970's, it would've been this summer's beach read bestseller."

– Tom Siebert, former Madison Avenue executive and award winning journalist and film critic

Events

I will be attending my first Book Fair on July 12, 2025.

Since Top 40 Honeypot is definitely for adults, I thought this would be a great book fair for me.

Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Education Building on the State Fairgrounds in St. Paul, Minnesota from 12 to 7 p.m.

Hope to see you there.
